Watching movies while I work- thought I’d share some thoughts on flicks. Maybe this will become a thing, if I’m not too lazy.
Giallo: Surprisingly bad for an Argento starring Adrien Brody. Thought I’d be in love with it, instead it was painful/hilarious at best. Ending was particularly uneventful.
Trick’R’Treat: Semi-interesting compilation of Halloween oriented vignettes. Most of them were pretty generic, but would have probably been effective in appropriate season. However, Anna Paquin and tribe of werewolf girls stripping their skin off? Maybe one of the best scenes I’ve seen in a while.
The Caller: Pretty good. Fresher story line, found the concept of time in the movie interesting, and I do quite like Stephen Moyer. Had some good moments of real tension, and I felt for the characters. Down side? The abusive husband backstory is a bit tired, and it did made me a little sad.
Lo: Da fuq is this? I don’t know, but so far I like it. What started out as ridiculous, silly and questionably acted turned into something pretty beautiful at the end. Kept me enagaged and entertained, interesting storyline with an ending that left me wondering why I didn’t see it coming. Pretty great costumes for the budget, and one character whose layers surprised me. Definite nods to Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead series - specifically the second (and best) one.
Heartless: This movie is sweet and really sad, albeit somewhat predictable. Jim Sturgess is adorable, and the visuals were surprisingly pretty. I particularly liked the lizard demons. Dramatic ending that raises a few questions- watch something happy afterward.
